The Anderson Stand on Racer Review. (9 replies)
Well I have to say I have been well pleased with my Makro Racer over the last 8 months , the only thing I found annoying about using the racer was the fact it would topple over on virtually every single dig. To some people this might seem trivial but to me it got to be (to say the least) pretty annoying!. Well after purchasing the "Anderson Stand" and using it on my racer for a full day I have to say I am well pleased with the improvements the stand gives. One question you might be asking is what kind of improvements are to be gained from using the stand, well I found the there was 2 main things I really enjoyed about the stand been fitted , the first improvement is obviously the fact that the machine does not fall over on every dig and is raised up at the rear keeping it well clear of mud etc. The second thing which I liked and which I was not expecting is the fact the machine is easier to grasp once the hole has been filled and your ready for off - less of a lean over to grab the machine - you might like this improvement - I certainly liked this improvement a lot. On long days hunting you will appreciate the stand a lot , it just makes it a smoother , easier more pleasant hunt . I noticed no weight gain on the racer , the stand did not impede my sweeping in any way shape or form. The stand was fixed solid to the machine and did not move at all. There you go my own quick review of the Anderson Stand. Flea bay can provide.

Makro RC13 coil sensitivity issue? (9 replies)
Hello all, I just purchased the small coil for my Racer 2 and was able to use it today for the first time. I noticed that during ground balancing, it make a loud waivering tone. After ground balancing it sounds like the coil is picking up some EMI. I tried backing the sensitivity down around 20 but it still does it. The stock coil, running the same settings in the exact same location ground balances fine and doesn't sound like it is affected by any EMI. I'm running 3 tone, sensitivity 40 and ground balancing around 60. Do you think the coil is faulty or am I doing something wrong?

EMI (6 replies)
How well does the Racer handle EMI from power sources with the gain set high. I use the IDX Pro which has the Ground Balance Mod, Threshold Mod and the SAT Mod which works with the Black Sand and the Norm position with the ( Eliminator Coil ) for the soul purpose only of handling any kind of EMI.
Where I live the county has their power plant and the heavy current coming through the lines can be heard at a distance of maybe 30 yards away. My ground is very low in mineral content and I can run the IDX at full sensitivity with no problem ground balancing under these lines. I have watched many videos on the Race and have yet seen anyone do an EMI test...

Racer 2 Coil Options (5 replies)
Have yet to pull the trigger on buying the new Racer 2, just getting all the info I can on its operation before making the final decision. Besides the 2 coils (5" and the 7"x11") that come with the Pro Package what other coils that are made specifically by Marko are available for use on this detector? Do I understand correctly that coils for the Red Racer won't work with the this detector? Also in researching I don't see any concentric coils for it, only DD configuration. I guess that's why everybody is raving about it's seperation ability.

Makro racer 2 problem? (2 replies)
Just purchased the racer 2 after a few months use of the racer 1,starting to get used to the new target id's,I've noticed that when I'm pin pointing the meter won't go below 5inch even if the coil is rite over the item, has anyone else noticed this or is it just mine?
Thanks

How to reduce EMI on the Red Racer and Racer 2 (no replies)
Whenever EMI seems to be a problem with the Red Racer or Racer 2, you first need to find the best frequency to operate on. By simultaneously pulling the trigger and pressing either the right or left button you can toggle between channels 1 thru 5 to find the cleanest sounding channel. Pick the channel with the least wavy sounds or interference and then you can lower gain to smooth out any remaining EMI, then proceed to ground balance as the final step before you hunt.

Racer 2 Scores a 1917 Dime (7 replies)
Got it in 3 Tone mode not that deep at all, maybe 6". Its worn and hit down at "79". Site has been hit so hard though by me and many others--with some very modern machines. Really all about coil control (acquiring targets) and taking a second to verify your signals with this machine. This is an old site that's produced Victorian stuff too--have a sense that with the Racer 2 it's wide open---just have to keep learning and not be intimidated my the masses of (truck grove--no less!) iron. Got a Victorian half and an 1870 dime near where this one came out--I know there's more. One thing that Ty Brook taught me is that when you know it's there--the ball's in your court--keep trying.

Back @ the Spanish Trail with the R2 & OOR Coil (2 replies)
Sadly in just a couple of weeks the weeds have taken over, so I lost 75% of my hunting grounds :(
I focused on the area that I last picked up a reale and a beautiful large Phoenix button from, and although the finds were sparse, it didn't disappoint!
This was the total take, more or less, minus a few pitched bullet casings :detecting:
Right next to where I dug the PB I dug these two one piece cuff buttons, both with intact loops on the back. The stock coil didn't make a sound on these, and there is a bit of iron in this area (dug an awesome square nail spike kind of thing!). They're both marked "Treble Gilt" and something like "R&H.W.", cannot quite make out the initials, which are no doubt the button maker. I'd estimate these are late 1700's to early 1800's.
That little bronze/copper disc came in like a perfect coin signal, though for sure I had a penny or dime.....and that bronze round horse thingy sounded pretty darn good too.
Thanks for looking & HH,
Brian

Racer 2 testing with 15.5" coil in "hunted out" field :detecting: (no replies)
This is a video of my first time out with the Racer 2 (prior to my recent work with the small coil). Probably not too smart to have tied on the biggest coil to "learn" the unit, but this was our only chance to get into this "worked out" field before the grass grows in & I was hoping to reach items on the fringe of VLF detection............
Some nice buttons turned up anyhow & it was a fun day :detecting:

R2 lower rod won't stay tight (4 replies)
My R1 never had this minor issue but my R2 lower rod camlock keeps working its way loose. Anybody got a quick fix? Have a big hunt next weekend so I might just wrap some tape around it to the time being.

Please tell me,,, (9 replies)
That the new racer2 I just received has a screen protector on it. Because it is scratched all to heck and back from shipping. They could pack them alittle better as the coil was right up against the screen when I opened it. If it is a cover, i'll peel it off and put a new one on. If not, this sucks......

Found Gold with the Racer 2 (5 replies)
Was hunting a school sports field, and found this woman's wedding band. It was about 6 or 7 inches down in the ground. I was using the 5.5 x 10 coil. I was using the 3 tone mode, and had the gain set at 85. My wife was with me, and she was just saying that I never find anything good when she goes out with me.

A Bold statement made by Makro with the R2.... (10 replies)
Never even with my CoRe and Racer did I think in my wildest dreams it could get much better unmasking wise. The R2 has bumped it up quite a few notches. I'm still hunting, yes, same places we have hunted over 2 years. By myself mind you, it's "hunted" out, as far as most all machines go. Along comes the R2. Same old house lot's that have had probably 800 plus man hours with all types of machines and excellent detectorist running them. I visited these same places with R1 and dug some more stuff after slamming it with the CoRe, realizing then what these machines can do. I've mentioned before it's not about depth, more than we can imagine is hiding being masked by something or several things, mostly nails 1-5 inches deep. In my case modern through early 1800's stuff and trash. Not for the weak hearted trust me. Not in my wildest dreams did I think an iron audio could be hiding so much. I've dug a lot of coins that I'd bet you were not there since the R2. The tone break being adjustable also helps me being a coin hunter, just no where near as much as being able to drop that iron audio down to a slight sizzle buzz. I've dug several hundred coins +. Today dug my 20th silver that I knew was not there, with the R2! I, we don't dig that many in a year, any year, none of us, even all together. It's just been a month....... So much stuff masked and still there. A nuance I've came across that is probably 80-90% for me. I'm not moving the coil fast at all. In heavy trash/nails, 3 tone, second tone break at 79, max on audio tone, 700 khz. Middle tone at 400 khz, enough to be able to discern the machine is telling you something is there pitch difference. While swinging if you get a high tone tiny blip. While dissecting it if the TID does not climb into the mid 90's on some passes more than likely it's good metal, higher conductive coins for me. If it does get into the 90's I'm not digging coins. Just trash/iron/nails most all the time. You would be shocked at how much I have to disassemble my plugs to get at the targets there's so much metal in these places. I can't imagine them building much better of a machine but I will wait patiently because Makro/Nokta are setting a very high goal for the other companies. I'll say this, if you have an R2 and are not in the nastiest trashiest places you can hunt you just might be a fool. I'm impressed is all I can say........wild ride we are on here.
R2 Silver #20 this morning.
Total little over an hour hunt and the trash with the coins. I have hunted probably 50 or more times in this one small spot these came out of.
R2 silver that has been hiding. We've ran a bunch of machines over this place...........Hiding in plain sight!

Racer 2 arrived today (11 replies)
My Racer 2 arrived today. I have to say that I am very impressed with the quality and solid build of this detector. My only minor nag is that the stock coil is a brick! You could run this thing over with a tank and not hurt it. It does make a super light detector a bit nose heavy, but all in all, nothing too severe. I also have the smaller coil so that would probably make a big difference (even though the small coil is pretty hefty for its size as well!). You certainly can't say they made a flimsy coil!
It went together in minutes, the cam locks are probably some of the best I have seen on any detector. They don't jam like other locks are prone to. Nice touch to have the battery box and the screen covered with a nice protector. No more taking off your shirt to cover up the machine if you get caught out in the rain. (A definite plus for spectators!).
I was very impressed with how quickly and securely it ground balanced. No problem getting used to push forward for ground balance. My other machines are pull back, but really it's not like there's a learning curve! Two or three pumps and it is quiet as a mouse. Nice.
I haven't really put it through it's paces yet, but I did take it into my coin garden which is located in an EXTREMELY HIGH EMI area. My V3i simply fails to find anything there deeper than 4" regardless of any filter settings, gain adjustments etc. The Racer 2 hit 90% of everything there with no trouble. More impressive was the fact that it hit a 6" nickel that has eluded almost every other detector I have. Nice! I'm looking forward to putting it to the test out in the clean ground.
Display is very nice and easily readable. Learning it won't be much of a stretch. The VDI number are, of course, a bit different from what I am used to ,but again, learn them (I mean, it's only a penny, dime nickel, quarter, half and dollar and then some gold items) not expected to be much of a problem at all. I like the tone, not annoying or piercing, and the overload is such that you'll never mistake it for anything else!
Well All I can say is that I am so far very happy with this machine. I was tossed between this and an XP Deus (which I still think has the weight advantage), but hey, there's always room for another machine right?
I already went ahead and pre-ordered the wireless headphones. I have them for my V3i and wouldn't hunt without them. If you have a Racer 2 you should really get the wireless for them. It changes everything.
Well done MAKRO!
